Los Angeles Children’s Chorus Spring Concerts May 14

“Breathe in Hope” composed by Dale Trumbore will have its world premiere during the Pasadena-based Los Angeles Children’s Chorus spring concerts Sundays, May 7 and 14, at 7 p.m. at Pasadena Presbyterian Church.
The choral work, commissioned by LACC, is set to text found on social media that implores people not to quickly forget recent clashes between African Americans and police.
Trumbore has been praised by the New York Times for creating “soaring melodies and beguiling harmonies deployed with finesse.” He is among a generation of composers who are expanding and reinvigorating the choral repertoire.
The concert programs, featuring the chorus’s concert choir, chamber singers, apprentice choir and young men’s ensemble, will also feature works by Holst, Handel and Victoria.
“A hallmark of LACC, the eclectic repertoire showcases the choristers’ considerable vocal technique and ability to sing in multiple styles and languages,” said Artistic Director Anne Tomlinson.
Tickets are $13 and $44. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit lachildrenschorus.org or call (626) 793-4231. Pasadena Presbyterian Church is located at 585 E. Colorado Blvd.
