PAL to Host Golden Badge Awards Dinner on March 30

Steve Brockmeyer

The Pasadena Police Activities League will hold its 15th annual Golden Badge Awards Dinner on Thursday, March 30, at the Pasadena Convention Center. This year’s commemorative “Through the Years” event, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of PAL, will honor Steve Brockmeyer of Bolton & Co. with the Golden Badge Award for his commitment to supporting the youth of Pasadena.
Retired Pasadena Police Chief Bernard Melekian, the Salvation Army Pasadena Tabernacle Corps and current Pasadena Police Chief Phillip Sanchez will also be honored with PAL Service Awards in recognition of their meaningful efforts to build and maintain the PAL program locally.
The Golden Badge Awards will include dinner as well as silent and live auctions featuring an array of items and experiences. The evening will also include an exclusive raffle drawing for a $2,500 private jewelry shopping spree courtesy of local jeweler Mimi et Cie. Cocktails will begin at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7. Complimentary valet parking is available.
This year is the 20th anniversary of PAL, a national organization that came to Pasadena in 1997. It partners the youth of the community with the men and women of the Pasadena Police Department in a fun, safe and nurturing environment while providing academic and cultural enrichment. PAL offers homework assistance, various sports, and a wide variety of special activities such as robotics and arts classes that give students an opportunity to build character and form a positive relationship with community law enforcement.
PAL serves an average of 120 children in grades 4-12 each day with 200 more on the waiting list.
This is the organization’s primary fundraising event and proceeds from the evening are dedicated to reducing the waitlist and increasing the vital PAL programs. The community’s participation will be greatly appreciated, particularly by the youth Pasadena PAL will be able to serve.
To support Pasadena PAL, sponsorship opportunities are available. Tickets are $175 each and can be purchased on the Pasadena Pal website at pasadenapal.com/events. For more information or to purchase raffle tickets, call (626) 791-1225.
