Assistance League to Host Membership Coffee Jan. 25

The Assistance League of Pasadena is holding a prospective membership coffee at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, at 820 E. California Blvd. in Pasadena.
“For more than 75 years, the volunteers of the Assistance League of Pasadena have been dedicated to improving th e lives of others in our community,” said Assistance League of Pasadena President Julie Escudero. “This long-term tradition is one that we are proud of and we hope to involve others in our community to join us in this important work.”
The chapter was established in 1941 and has served the community through several programs:
• Underserved elementary school students receive through the chapter’s Operation School Bell program free school uniforms, a hygiene kit, a shoe voucher and an age-appropriate book.
• To support senior citizens, the Assistance League operates the Craft Fair Gift Shop and showcases the work of local artisans who create unique, handcrafted items.
• Through its Assault Survivor Kits program, the chapter provides clothing and personal care items to individuals who are survivors of abuse and sexual assault when their clothing has been retained by police for evidence.
• Bear Hugs provides teddy bears to local organizations to comfort neglected, abused or traumatized children.
To RSVP for the prospective membership coffee, call (626) 449-2068 or email alpasadena@sbcglobal.net.
