Elizabeth House Gala Helps Women in Need

Elizabeth House recently hosted its 14th annual Benefit Gala at the Oakmont Country Club. Executive Director Debbie Unruh shared how the theme “La Notte di Speranza” (“Night of Hope”) was only a small taste of 23 years of realized hope for hundreds of women and children. The evening highlighted two alumnae: Tendai Senah and Hilary Fraser-Thomson. Senah gave a heartfelt testimonial of her journey, while pregnant, out of homelessness on the streets of Los Angeles, and Fraser-Thompson, an accomplished musician, played and sang for the entire evening with tenor Adam Faruqi, ending with a duet of “The Prayer.” The honoree for the evening was Kate Rhymer, whose volunteerism, mentorship and overall support of Elizabeth House has had a deep impact on residents, alumni and staff alike. The evening netted more than $140,000 for its mission of hope.
