Hathaway-Sycamores Celebrates Children at Gala

The magnificent Vibiana was aglow for Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services’ 10th annual Celebrating Children Gala on Saturday. More than 300 guests attended the sold-out event, which raised funds to support the organization’s clinical and supportive services that provide youth and young adults with homes and hope. Vibiana’s innovative Redbird restaurant served up handcrafted cocktails and bites to guests during a courtyard reception followed by dinner in the main hall. Guests had the opportunity to bid on a silent auction.
Hathaway-Sycamores President and CEO Debra Manners welcomed guests and thanked them for coming together to support the organization’s services that impact more than 15,000 lives each year. Emmy-Award-winning CBS-2 morning news anchor Peter Daut entertained all as the gala emcee. Guests were treated to a special performance by internationally renowned tenor Nathan Pacheco, which included several operatic gems capped by a rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”
The pinnacle of the night was the celebration of Hathaway-Sycamores’ board member Dr. Robert Pynoos, who was honored with the Celebrating Children Award for his leadership and impact in the field of childhood trauma. Assemblyman Chris Holden joined the celebration of Pynoos’ professional achievements and Hathaway-Sycamores’ commitment to children and families, presenting both with proclamations. This year’s gala committee was chaired by Rita Henderson.
