Pet Store Donates $26K to PAWS/LA

Centinela Feed and Pet Supplies, which has a store in Pasadena, donated $26,429 to Los Angeles-based nonprofit agency PAWS/LA (Pets Are Wonderful Support/Los Angeles) in support of the agency’s efforts to assist people and pets in need. Pictured at their Pasadena store are owners Chris Nakagawa and Dwight Nakagawa, along with Dr. Debra Philips and Doug King, presenting the donation check to Jonathan Weedman and Steve Wayland of PAWS/LA. The contribution was a result of Centinela’s annual holiday fundraising campaign, and will help PAWS/LA continue to serve over 150 seniors and their beloved pets in the Pasadena area.

Muse/ique Announces New Board Members

Muse/ique, Pasadena’s pioneering live music organization, have announced the appointment of three new members to its board of directors: Barbara Franks Bice, Christine Swanson and Jonathan Weedman.
The board, chaired by philanthropist LeeAnn Havner, provides leadership in carrying out Muse/ique’s mission of making music accessible to all through adventurous and meaningful programming, an effort continued throughout the pandemic with drive-in concerts, lawn serenades, and “In a Minute! (…or Two!)” video series, which recently surpassed 100 episodes.

Local Resident is New Executive Director of the Gay Men’s Chorus

Local resident Jonathan Weedman has been named the new executive director of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles, the organization announced recently.

An ardent supporter of the arts and of LGBT equal rights advocacy, Weedman is an award-winning business leader and philanthropist who will shepherd the organization’s 270-plus choral membership, as well as work in unison with its team of board and staff members, including its board chair John Duran.
“Jonathan Weedman is admired across greater Los Angeles for his LGBT and fine arts advocacy,” said Duran. “He will lead GMCLA through our next chapters advancing LGBT equality, protecting our youth and teaching about our culture and history.”
