The La Cañada Flintridge Educational Foundation, citing “public health risks that the coronavirus disease poses in large public gatherings,” has made the unprecedented decision to cancel the organization’s 29th annual Spring Gala, which was scheduled for March 21.
“This is a huge loss for us because it’s our main fundraiser, but public safety outweighs it,” LCFEF Executive Director Marilyn Yang said. LCFEF and La Cañada Unified School District officials “are aligned in this decision, out of an abundance of caution,” she added.

The La Cañada Flintridge Educational Foundation will hold its 27th annual Spring Gala on Saturday evening, March 3, at the Ritz Carlton at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles (adjacent to Staples Center). More than 700 people are expected to attend the fundraiser, which is widely regarded as LCF’s highest-profile social event of the entire year. The Board of Directors and Executive Director Marilyn Yang of the La Cañada Flintridge Educational Foundation hosted a reception for its major donors recently at Malbec in Pasadena. The donors were thanked for their generous contributions for the 2016-17 gifts given to the La Cañada Flintridge Educational Foundation. Their dedicated support ensures that the children of La Cañada Unified School District will continue to achieve excellence in one of the finest educational systems in California. They were thanked by LCFEF President Josh Epstein, who spoke at the dinner, for their commitment to maintaining the community’s high quality of education.
