PCR 6th-Graders Bask in Holiday Spirit

The 6th-graders in Debbie Bedell-Au and Amy Tsai’s classes at Paradise Canyon Elementary recently got into the holiday spirit.
They celebrated the holiday season by playing a gift exchange game and making snowmen.
Some dressed for the occasion by wearing Santa hats and antlers, but everyone shared some good fun and laughs.

Paradise Canyon Elementary Gives Back

Every year, the Student Council of Paradise Canyon Elementary, which consists of hard-working 6th-graders, rally the student body to turn in new, unwrapped toys for families in neighboring communities during the holiday season. This year’s council members that participated in the event included Noah Chindris, Alec Lee, Luca Vallisneri, Jayden Aghakhanian, Ava Rhee, Jordan Grabel , Leela DiTullio, Lane Ehresmann, Alexie Mouradian, Milla Mouradian, Olivia Chang, Natalie Stogel and Ava Hanna.

LCHS Chamber Singers Visit PCR

La Cañada High School Chamber Singers recently took a tour of the La Cañada Elementary schools, including Paradise Canyon Elementary.
The group sang outside to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th-graders.
The 6th-graders got a special assembly to show the students the opportunities, including those within the music program, waiting for them at the high school level.

PCR, PCY Named Blue Ribbon Schools

The La Cañada Unified School District prides itself on delivering a robust education, and it received affirmation of such work Tuesday as two of its elementary schools were recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools by the U.S. Department of Education, a coveted honor given to 325 schools nationwide.
Palm Crest and Paradise Canyon elementary schools were among 28 California schools to be recognized by Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona for their “academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.” Continue reading “PCR, PCY Named Blue Ribbon Schools”
