LCPC Parent Ed Director Anne Bierling and her team, the Soaring Eagles, went “Over the Edge,” repelling down 24 stories of the Universal Hilton and raising $44,426 for Union Rescue Mission, Skid Row and Hope Gardens.

It was a recent Wednesday afternoon, and the Rev. Andy Bales, Union Rescue Mission CEO, had already put in a 38-hour workweek. As head of one of the nation’s largest and oldest missions of its kind, perched in the dubious center of Skid Row on South San Pedro Street, the Pasadena resident has doubled down on his efforts to rescue the estimated 58,000 men, women and children experiencing homelessness across L.A. Harambee Ministries will present its annual fundraising benefit, “A Dream Fulfilled,” on Saturday, March 3, at Fellowship Monrovia (401 E. Huntington Drive, Monrovia). There will be an opening reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by a dinner and program at 6:30 p.m.
The benefit will feature Harambee founder John Perkins and keynote speaker Bill Robinson, president emeritus of Whitworth University.
This year, Harambee will honor Union Rescue Mission CEO and Pasadena resident, the Rev. Andy Bales, and Seattle Pacific University President Emeritus Phil Eaton.
