LC Blanks La Serna in Tournament

The La Cañada High School varsity baseball team won its third consecutive Anaheim Lions Tournament game with a 9-0 victory over Whittier La Serna on Tuesday.
The Spartans’ pitching was lights out as Austin Kelly, Trevor Grey and Connor Schulz combined for the shutout. Kelly picked up the win tossing the first three innings and allowing only four hits. Grey allowed two hits, walked two and struck out two in three innings of work, and Schulz struck out two and allowed one hit in one inning of relief.
Schulz led La Cañada’s offense with a triple and three RBIs, and Jonathan Shaklan added a run and two RBIs. Graham Massimino scored three runs, hit a triple and drove in one run, Tristan Kalnins was 2-for-3 with two runs, Matthew Sox was 1-for-2 with one run scored, Tai Walton scored a run and Cole Castillo contributed one hit.
The Spartans (10-4 overall record, 2-0 in league) will resume Rio Hondo League play at home against Temple City on Wednesday, April 5, at 3:30 p.m.
