LC Softball Clinches 3rd Straight Crown

The La Cañada High School varsity softball team shut out host South Pasadena, 13-0, last Friday to clinch a share of its third consecutive Rio Hondo League championship.
The Spartans (14-4 overall record, 9-0 in league) extended their win streak against league opponents to 17 games. The last time La Cañada finished 12-0 in league play was in 2011, the same year the program captured its second CIF Southern Section title.
Holly Stoner picked up the win, tossing three innings, allowing one hit and striking out seven. Meghan Henry pitched two innings and allowed only one hit.
Meghan Henry led La Cañada at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and one run. Maddy Reilly was 2-for-4 with a double and three runs, Taryn Harris collected two hits, scored twice and drove in a run, Kathleen Knudsen had a hit and drove in two runs, Emily Tinkham belted a solo home run, Abby Au was 1-for-3 with a run and two RBIs, Hailey Walton had a hit and an RBI, Alexxis Abboud scored two runs and Dianna Carranza had one run.
La Cañada, ranked No. 8 in CIF-SS Division 4, will host Temple City in a league game on Tuesday, May 9, at 3:30 p.m.

Mayfield Senior 12
Flintridge Prep 8

The Cubs downed visiting Flintridge Prep, 12-8, for a much-needed Prep League victory last week.
The win puts Mayfield in place to finish among the top three in league for a CIF Southern Section playoff berth.
Melissa Grande led Prep going 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs. Libby Penn was 1-for-3 with a double with three RBIs.
The Rebels (9-7 overall, 4-5 in league) will host Westridge in a league game this Friday, May 5, at 3:30 p.m.

Mission Hills Alemany 4
Flintridge Sacred Heart 0

The Tologs were blanked by Mission Hills Alemany pitcher Chailey Stewart in a 5-0 loss on Tuesday.
Flintridge Sacred Heart (13-7 overall) fell to 0-5 in Mission League play and will look to bounce back against visiting West Hills Chaminade today at 3:30 p.m.
