Pasadena Community Foundation honored 2018 grantees at its annual Local Heroes breakfast. East West Bank returned as the presenting sponsor.
PCF board chair Fran Scoble welcomed more than 240 civic and community leaders. In addition to honoring the grantee organizations, several philanthropic projects were spotlighted. Executive Director Claire Robinson of Amigos de Los Rios talked about a tree-planting project in Altadena. Mikala Rahn (Learning Works) and Arlin Crane (Homeboy Industries) introduced a collaboration to bring a Homeboy Youth Cafe to Pasadena.
According to the foundation’s President/CEO Jennifer DeVoll, “We have had tremendous growth and that results in more money that flows to local nonprofits in the form of grants. This year, we will distribute more than $1.2 million from funds that restrict their grant-making to the Pasadena area. Through our donor-advised and family foundation funds, we will also distribute grants all over the country.” Last year PCF granted $5.6 million overall.
PCF manages about 350 charitable funds and $80 million in charitable assets.
Pasadena Community Foundation’s core mission is to Build Hometown Legacies, permanent endowments that support work in the community.
