The Polytechnic varsity girls’ basketball team held visiting Mayfield Senior’s offense at bay to come away with a 34-26 victory in a Prep League game last Friday.

Sarah Johnson scored 12 points and recorded seven steals in the Panthers’ 34-26 victory over Mayfield Senior last Friday.

The Cubs (2-10 overall, 0-3 in league) were limited to only three points in the second and six in the third, allowing the Panthers to pull away for the win.
Sarah Johnson led Poly with 12 points and seven steals, and Kristin Toyota added 11 points. Juliana Lai netted eight points, Jennifer Lu contributed two points and Alexis Pappachan contributed one point.
Katie Tupy led Mayfield with seven points and four rebounds, and Trinity Gomez added six points, four assists and three steals. Jessica Zovak netted four points, Malayna Domingo had three points, Marguerite Irie finished with two points and six rebounds, and Amanda Mar and Jack Baggott contributed two points each.
Poly (11-2 overall, 4-1 in league) will host Lynwood Firebaugh in a Prep League game this Saturday, Jan. 21, at 2:30 p.m.
The Cubs will travel to Lynwood to take on Firebaugh today at 4 p.m.

Flintridge Prep 66
Palos Verdes Chadwick 42

Kaitlyn Chen scored a team-high 22 points to lead the Rebels to a 66-42 victory over Palos Verdes Chadwick last Friday.
Flintridge Prep improved to 15-2 on the season, including a 4-0 record in Prep League play. The Rebels will host Westridge today at 5 p.m.

Westridge 46
Arcadia Rio Hondo Prep 34

The Tigers’ senior leadership lifted the team to a 46-34 victory over visiting Arcadia Rio Hondo Prep last week.
Seniors Juliana Favela, Sarah Rozario and Stephanie Davis led Westridge in scoring against the Kares. Favela totaled 21 points, 18 rebounds and four assists, Rozario finished with 10 points and four assists and Davis netted eight points, grabbed seven rebounds and recorded three assists.
Ashley Wei had four points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals and Ella Wood contributed three points and 11 rebounds.
The Tigers (6-7 overall, 2-3 in league) will travel to La Cañada Flintridge to face Flintridge Prep in a league game today at 5 p.m.

Los Angeles Marymount 57
Flintridge Sacred Heart 54

The Tologs were unable to snap their losing streak, falling to host Los Angeles Marymount, 57-54, in a Mission League game last week.
Camilla Homans led the Tologs with 13 points. FSHA fell to 0-3 in Mission League play.
Flintridge Sacred Heart will travel to Woodland Hills to take on Louisville in a league contest this Saturday, Jan. 21, at 5 p.m.

Whittier Christian 50
Maranatha 41

The Minutemen squandered a six-point first-quarter lead and fell to visiting Whittier Christian of La Habra, 50-41, in an Olympic League game last week.
Qasia Boone led Maranatha with 12 points and Patil Yaccoubian netted nine opints. Marina Lacanilao had seven points, Claire Sheffer finished with four points and 15 rebounds, Erica De Guzman totaled four points, six rebounds and three steals, Lailonie Sapp had two points and seven rebounds, Cherise Masuda netted two points and Taylor Ota contributed a point.
The Minutemen (8-11 overall, 0-1 in league) will host Cerritos Valley Christian in a league game this Friday, Jan. 20, at 5:30 p.m.

La Salle 76
St. Bernard 32

The Lancers scored early and often to clobber host St. Bernard of Playa del Rey, 76-32, in a Santa Fe League game last week.
La Salle improved to 13-6 on the season and 2-0 in league. The Lancers will host San Pedro Mary Star of the Sea in a league contest today at 7 p.m.
