Palm Crest Elementary School recently held its annual Science Fair and more than 80 projects were submitted. Young scientists participated from every class. Topics explored included magnets, fire snakes, plant growth, the tongue, water filters, twinkling flashlights, why things float, plasma, slime, viruses versus bacteria, tsunamis and how refrigerators work, among other interesting scientific phenomena. A special treat for the scientists was a model of the Mars rover, which rolled over them. It was a full house, as enthusiastic parents, teachers and students came to view the exhibits.
