The Pasadena City College Foundation recently held a holiday party to thank donors and volunteers for another year of support. Rajen Vurdien, Pasadena City College Superintendent/President, along with Pasadena College Foundation Board President James Sarni, warmly welcomed alumni, donors, trustees and board members, who gathered to enjoy seasonal festivities and celebrate a year of robust accomplishment and student achievement.
A special highlight of the evening were the remarks made by PCC graduate Ryan Liu, now at Yale University as a Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholar, commenting on how his experience at PCC prepared him for the Ivy League.
“PCC showed me that anything was possible. On campus I saw how focused everyone was on their education and how caring the professors were. Their support and mentorship taught me the skills necessary to reach my goals.” And in keeping with the spirit of the season, Ryan awarded, on behalf of the Foundation, two scholarships to deserving students who were surprised and thrilled at the unexpected support, which will allow them to continue their college education at PCC.
