Walden School believes that everybody has a story, and last week was a celebration of stories with the school’s annual Book Fair. Families contributed gently used books to a book drive to provide reading materials to the personal libraries of people impacted by the Thomas Fire. Students also participated in a bookmark contest, showcasing their creativity and appreciation for reading.
Walden hosted award-winning local children’s book author and illustrator Dan Santat on Family Night. Winner of the 2015 Caldecott Medal for distinguished illustration, Walden families know him for his beloved children’s books. Santat delighted the families with a comic slideshow about his life, family and creative process. He also read aloud from “The Great Cookie Fiasco,” his latest book “After the Fall,” which is an inspirational retelling of the Humpty Dumpty tale, and previewed his upcoming book “Dude!”
