Shortly after World War II, a group of friends decided to share a formal evening of dinner and waltzing. There was immediate enthusiasm and support, and in 1949 the Pasadena Waltz Group was inaugurated with 70 members.
For many years, members dined and danced to the music of famed orchestra leader Joe Moshay in the Viennese Room of the Huntington Hotel. In 1985, the Waltz Group began its current practice of scheduling events at private clubs.
The number of annual scheduled events has increased from three to four. Members look forward to the September party, dinner and dancing on the patio at the California Club. Two formal dances follow and the season ends with an informal cocktail party at the Town Club of Pasadena. Evenings shared with friends both old and new make each occasion a special time to remember.
In 2018 the name was changed to Pasadena Dine and Dance, as more members only dine, while others both dine and dance.
