New COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic Is Open to Community

First published in the Nov. 18 print issue of the Pasadena Outlook.

Congresswoman Judy Chu recently joined ChapCare and Westfield Santa Anita to open a new COVID-19 vaccination community clinic.
The pop-up clinic will operate at Westfield Santa Anita through the end of the year, and will offer free COVID-19 vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna) for all eligible age groups.
The ChapCare COVID-19 clinic will be located in Suite #F18 on the second floor of the mall, next to JC Penney. The clinic’s hours are Saturdays from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m.–5 p.m. To book an appointment call ChapCare at (626) 398-6300. Walks-ins are also welcome. For more information about this program, visit chapcare.org.
“Thanks to the American Rescue Plan, two thirds of Americans over the age of 12 are fully vaccinated. This is incredible progress that has meant fewer hospitalizations and fewer deaths. But to end this pandemic and put a stop to new threats like the Delta variant, we still need to get these numbers up. That is why I am so thrilled that ChapCare has launched this new pop-up clinic to make it easier than ever for people to get their shot. I’m grateful to everyone who is working to help us defeat this virus, from the healthcare professionals at clinics like ChapCare to the front line workers to everyone who has gotten their vaccination shot. I want everyone to know that vaccines are safe, effective, and our best hope for returning to normal. So please, make an appointment and get yours today!”
Founded in 1995 by a group of community residents, city officials and healthcare agencies, ChapCare provides primary healthcare services to uninsured and under-insured residents of the San Gabriel Valley, serving more than 16,000 patients a year. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, ChapCare has become an even more vital public health resource, offering COVID-19 testing and vaccination, and telehealth options for its patients and the community.
“It has been our longstanding mission to remove barriers that prevent individuals from accessing healthcare by bringing quality, comprehensive and innovative medical services into their communities,” said ChapCare CEO Margaret Martinez. “That’s why we are thrilled about this partnership with Westfield Santa Anita and our healthcare champion Congresswoman Judy Chu which will help bring more relevancy to the importance of being vaccinated and increasing community access to COVID-19 vaccination leading up to the holidays.”
Marketing Director Debbie Oung of Westfield Santa Anita added:
“We are proud to partner with ChapCare and Representative Judy Chu to increase access to vaccinations for the San Gabriel Valley Community. The efforts to increase vaccination rates is a part of the company’s ongoing #WestfieldCares program that first launched in April 2020 in response to the pandemic.
“The initiative aims to help some of the most vulnerable populations in the communities where it operates, including making monetary and in-kind donations to local organizations that serve groups including those experiencing homelessness, economically disadvantaged families, seniors, and children. Westfield is offering the chance to win $100 a week for a year along with other prizes to those who get vaccinated.”
