Longtime Pasadena resident Rebecca King Crews will launch her line of women’s tuxedos, suits and separates at a highly anticipated pop-up event at Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills beginning Friday, Dec. 10. Proceeds from the event will benefit Rise, which fights for the rights of sexual violence survivors worldwide.
Crews, who is an R&B singer with a twist of a neo-soul, is also an actor, designer and mother. She is the wife of award-winning actor, artist and activist Terry Crews (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “America’s Got Talent”), with whom she has five children.
Women’s tuxedos, suits and separates are the latest addition to the Rebecca Crews line, which also includes handbags, shoes and cosmetics.
The inspiration for the tuxedos came when she was unable to find an outfit for her 30th anniversary with husband.
“I received so many compliments when I wore my designs to events, including the Golden Globe Awards, the Emmys and People’s Choice Awards,” Rebecca Crews said. “After getting frustrated about not being able to find something to wear for our anniversary, I decided to create a line of women’s tuxedos and suits that could be worn formally or informally.”
Her suits have been worn by stars at the Golden Globes, the Night Before the Emmy’s Party, Gladys Knight’s 75th birthday celebration, and the People’s Choice Awards.
“They are designed to outfit the woman who is strong, feminine and powerful,” according to a company statement. “Classic, yet on the cusp of modernism and flair. She and her team utilized the most refined workmanship and expert tailoring to create a fabulously feminine fit – careful to present clothing that’s fashionable and functional.”
Rebecca Crews LLC is headquartered locally in Amen & Amen, the virtual production studio Terry Crews opened in Old Pasadena earlier this year. Future plans for Rebecca include opening a flagship store for her entire line in Old Pasadena. Her website featuring her collection will launch in December.
The Rebecca Crews pop-up at Saks Fifth Avenue will run from Dec. 10-15. Saks is located at 9600 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills.
