Guests at the 20th annual Greater Los Angeles Area Council of Boy Scouts of America Women of Eagle Scout Brunch, “Wind Under Their Wings,” will be treated to an elegant and motivating event on Saturday, April 28, at the San Gabriel Country Club. The brunch supports the Boy Scouts of America.
A reception will be held at 10:30 a.m. followed by a brunch and the program at 11:15 a.m. The cost is $60 per person and includes pre-luncheon refreshments, brunch and mementos.
This year, the brunch will honor founding member Mona Mapel; founding BSA staff member Sue Newton; and founding committee members Lyle “Tinker” Bayle (in memory), Jeanine Cushman, Judy Davis, Sallie Determan, Joan Dietrick, Gwen Krogen, Janet Orswell, Jean Simpson (in memory) and Valerie Gumbiner Weiss. These women’s vision to honor the women “behind” the Eagle Scouts celebrates 20 years of laughs, joy and memorable speakers.
Brian Byrne, a senior at San Marino High School, and an Eagle Scout from San Marino Troop 355 will share his experiences as a Tiger Cub up the path to the rank of Eagle. Scout Executive of the Greater Los Angeles Area Council Jeff Hunt will give the annual “State of the San Gabriel Valley Council.” Capping the brunch will be a motivating talk presented by County Supervisor Kathryn Barger.
For tickets or information, contact Lucia Bernal at the Greater Los Angeles Area Council of Boy Scouts of America at (213) 413-4400, ext. 313, or lucia.bernal@scouting.org. Registration is also available online at glaacbsa.org/wings_event.
