The Altadena Library Foundation recently hosted an appreciation event for donors who supported its district’s new mobile library: the Curiosity Connection.
Nearly 100 community members were in attendance at the event, which featured remarks from foundation President Bridget Brewster, Altadena Library District Director Nikki Winslow and Assemblyman Chris Holden, among others.
During the event, which was held in the parking lot of the district’s main branch, the Curiosity Connection was unveiled and donors got a first look at the new “library on wheels.”
The mobile library will soon bring library services and much needed Wi-Fi hotspots to all corners of the Altadena community. The foundation, which raises funds and awareness for the Altadena Library District, also announced that it had recently received a $9,000 grant from the Tournament of Roses Foundation to support the ongoing programming costs associated with the Curiosity Connection as well as a gift from the the Bohland Kumanchik family.
The foundation’s “Taste of ‘Dena” fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 25, will continue to raise money for the Curiosity Connection’s ongoing costs, among other important funding goals.
