The Armory Center for the Arts recently celebrated 30 years of transforming lives through the power of art with its biennial “Off the Wall” art auction. More than 300 guests enjoyed the festivities at the Old Pasadena space — which houses art studios, workshops and galleries. The evening included cocktails, fine wines, a silent auction and a strolling supper organized by Armory board member Gale Kohl of Gale’s Restaurant, who coordinated offerings from 20 of Pasadena’s finest restaurants.
Guest could bid on more than 60 works by established and emerging artists, including LA-based artist Henry Taylor — arguably one of the hottest artists in the world.
Other notable sales included a painting by emerging artist Patrick Martinez, who is the first former Armory student to be included in an Off the Wall auction. Patrick was bussed to Armory ceramics classes nearly 30 years ago, and has publicly cited the Armory as his first exposure to the art world.
All ticket sales and auction proceeds directly support the Armory’s exhibitions, education and community programs.
