Kristine grew up on Lido Isle in Newport Beach. It was here, in the family home, where she passed away while asleep in her husband’s arms. Always cheerful and positive, the effects over many years of multiple sclerosis finally became too much to overcome.
Kristine graduated from Newport Harbor High School and UC Santa Barbara (Alpha-Chi-Omega). After graduation, she accepted a management position with Travelers Insurance Co. in Burbank. It was here she met her future husband, Scott.
After eight years with Travelers, Kristine left to become a stay-at-home mother for daughter Katharine. She did find time, however, for community service; her favorite commitment was the March of Dimes. When Katharine went to high school, Kristine went to work part-time for a new weekly newspaper, the La Cañada Outlook. She wrote a weekly food column for many years, continuing until last October, submitting her recipes and stories by computer as she and Scott had moved to the family home on Lido Isle nine years ago.
Kristine enriched the lives of everyone she knew with her wit, charm, humor, warm smile and unconditional love. She will be greatly missed by her brother, John Laun (Susan), Aunt Gloria Laun and too many friends to list. She will be missed most of all by her best friend and husband of 41 years, Scott.
A small, private service was held on her brother’s boat off San Diego Harbor on Dec. 8. If you wish, donations in her name may be sent to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Kristine, you are the strongest, bravest person I have ever known. You taught me humility and the true meaning and value of friendship. Please remember that I always have and always will love you more than life itself.
Your husband, Scott
