Marshall Seniors Picked as Scholar Candidates

Benjamin Burnette and Christian Tran, both seniors at Marshall Fundamental Secondary School, have been chosen as candidates for the 2017 U.S. Presidential Scholars program. Established in 1964, the program recognizes and honors some of the nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors. The program recognizes exceptional academic achievement, talent in the visual, creative and performing arts, and accomplishment in career and technical education fields. Each year, up to 161 students are named as Presidential Scholars, one of the nation’s highest honors for high school students. Semifinalists will be named in April, with finalists honored with medals at a recognition ceremony in Washington, D.C.
