The 1st-graders at Palm Crest Elementary School recently were all dressed in their “good apple T-shirts” they’d made for Apple Day. The festivities began as they celebrated Johnny Appleseed’s birthday. With parent volunteers helping, they tasted different types of apples and graphed their tasting results. They made apple dumplings, did apple math, played apple games, made apple puppets and wrote in their apple books. One class incorporated science in their activities and placed apple slices in water, vinegar and lemon juice to see the effects and also studied dehydration.
