SoCal Women’s Health/Beauty Empowerment Conference Friday

Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom and Advancement Project Founding Co-Director Connie Rice will serve as the keynote speakers at the SoCal Women’s Health/Beauty and Empowerment Conference & Expo this Friday, Nov. 3, beginning at the Hilton Pasadena (168 S. Los Robles Ave., Pasadena, 91101). The event runs from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
“I’m so thrilled to be producing our 17th annual SoCal Women’s Health/Beauty and Empowerment Convention & Expo. Each year more than 2,000 women and men attend our free full-day event designed to empower women and men to make better health decisions and develop a lifestyle that includes healthy choices,” said Lena L. Kennedy, CEO of Community Women Vital Voices and event’s producer/architect. “I’m grateful to this year’s conference chairs, Jihee Huh and Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, and for the generosity of our many sponsors including Methodist Hospital and PACFO.”
“The Southern California Women’s health conference is an amazing work of dedicated health professionals who are committed to bringing essential information about well being and to help educate the participants to navigate their health care needs,” said Jihee Huh, the expo co-chair and vice chair of PAFCO.

The breakfast with morning session takes place from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Reservations are required when registering for the conference workshops. There is a nominal fee for the breakfast. Speakers include emcee Teena Hostovich of Lockton Insurance, Pastor Jean Burch of Community Bible Church, Linda Clemons, Kyler Franklin, Atlas Entertainment’s Rebecca Steel Roven Oakley, Kiesha Nix Executive of Lakers Youth Foundation, psychologist Dr. Valinda Bowens, California State Controller Betty Yee, and video producer Christina Martin.
One of the highlights of the entire day will be the luncheon and fashion show from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Leslie Sykes, ABC7 Eyewitness News Health Specialist, is serving as emcee, and Wells Fargo’s Lisa Stevens, the company’s executive vice president and regional banking executive, is the moderator for the luncheon. The fashion show is produced by Elizabeth Ellis.
The Man Cave, an extension of the SoCal Women’s Health/Beauty and Empowerment Conference & Expo, returns for the third year. Held in partnership with Gamma Zeta Boulé of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, it will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dr. Rick Kittles of the City of Hope will serve as the keynote speaker of the Man Cave Luncheon.
The event is hosted and presented by Community Women, Vital Voices in partnership with several key Southern California community and service organizations.
