Lake Avenue Church will sponsor many events during the Christmas and New Year season, including a Christmas concert, children’s programs, Messiah sing-along and candlelight services.
These events are:
• Christmas Artists Emporium, Saturday, Dec. 2, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in Room 300 of the Family Life building. Shop for Christmas gifts made by Lake Avenue Church artists amid all-day live entertainment, music and variety acts. The $10 entry fee will benefit the Blair High School Music Program.
• Goldline Concert on Dec. 7, from noon to 12:45 p.m., in the Worship Center. Music and dance will feature violinist Carrie Rehkopf, cellist John Michel and pianist Duane Funderburk.
• The All-Church Christmas Posada, Saturday, Dec. 16, at 6 p.m. in Lake Avenue Church’s west parking lot. Join neighborhood families for a “Posada,” a short walk with caroling, reenacting Joseph and Mary’s search for lodging on the eve of the birth of the Savior. It will be followed by a dinner, a piñata, crafts and bounce house for children.
• Messiah Sing Along, Sunday, Dec. 17, at 4 p.m. in the Worship Center. Join in singing the Christmas portion of Handel’s Messiah led by a 100-plus voice choir, soloists Tiffany Rivette, Tessa Studebaker, Jon Lee Keenan, Ryan Reithmeier, harpsichord and orchestra, directed by Duane Funderburk. An offering will be taken.
• College and Young Adult Christmas Coffee House, Dec. 19, from 7:30-10 p.m. in the Warehouse. The evening begins with visual arts and refreshments, followed by music, poetry and dance.
• Christmas Eve Family Services, Sunday, Dec. 24, at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the Worship Center. Enjoy a Christmas Eve service for the whole family. Childcare is available for ages birth to 4 years.
• Christmas Eve Candlelight Services, Sunday, Dec. 24, in the Worship Center at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., led by the choir and orchestra. The hour concludes with the lighting of candles. Childcare is not available for these services.
• Christmas Day Service, Monday, Dec. 25, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel. Childcare is not available for this service.
• New Year’s Eve Night of Worship, Dec. 31, at 5-6:15 p.m. Childcare is not available for this service.
