Lake Avenue Community Foundation and Lake Avenue Church recently held La Posada, a traditional Catholic Christmas celebration.
“La Posada is a short processional reenacting Joseph and Mary’s search for a place to stay on the eve of the birth of our Savior, including carols and a dinner celebration,” said LACF Executive Director Nancy Stiles. “La Posada is also a way for families who participate in LACF programming to share a Christmas tradition that serves as a thank you to many of the volunteers who tutor and mentor students at Lake Avenue Community Foundation. It is a fabulous community-building event that gives us an opportunity to showcase several of our core values such as interdependence, mutuality and collaboration. It’s also a whole lot of fun to see our community celebrating and sharing a delicious meal together.”
LACF parents made a delicious dinner of pozole, tamales, champurrado and buñuelos, and the children enjoyed making cookies, crafts and breaking the pinata.
