Pacific Clinics will honor longtime supporter and mental health advocate Ellen Leyva at its Champions of Mental Health Summer Gala on Saturday, June 23. The fundraising event begins at 6 p.m. and will be held at the Globe Theatre at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Pacific Clinics is one of the largest nonprofit mental health providers in Southern California, serving more than 22,000 individuals annually at more than 60 locations in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino and Ventura counties. The agency provides life-changing mental health treatment and supportive services to low-income children, adults and families, and operates Head Start/Early Head Start programs for preschool children.
“Pacific Clinics is thrilled to award Ms. Leyva with the inaugural Champions of Mental Health Award in recognition of her tireless efforts as a mental health advocate,” said Jim Balla, the organization’s president and CEO. “She truly is a Champion of Mental Health, supporting the work of Pacific Clinics’ behavioral healthcare programs for individuals and families who need us most.”
For the past several years, Leyva has emceed the agency’s annual fundraising
event, naming mental health awareness a personally meaningful cause. She has a family member who lives with mental illness, and understands the importance of professional treatment.
Leyva’s co-anchor at KABC-7, David Ono, will emcee the event as part of the organization’s tribute to Leyva.
The summer gala will feature innovative and artful culinary masterpieces from “Chef to the Stars” Wolfgang Puck, as well as a silent and live auction, including local and international travel destinations and experiences.
The event is sponsored by Blue Shield of California and Mutual of America, also longstanding supporters of the agency’s mental health work.
