Mayfield Senior School celebrated the class of 2018, proudly conferring 91 high school diplomas to the newest alumnae who were praised by Head of School Kate Morin for their extraordinary kindness and ability to build a school community of love, trust and joy.
“We send them forth with pride and gratitude that we can share these powerful young women with others,” Morin said of the graduates of the all-girls Catholic school in Pasadena as they stood before about 1,800 family and friends gathered on the north lawn.
At the ceremony, the school’s Cornelia Connelly Award was presented to Lauren Spensiero. Senior class president Carmen Mascaren has described her classmates as “confident, capable and fearless” women who don’t take no for an answer. “The world needs Mayfield girls,” Mascaren said. “We must continue to serve others with open hearts and generous spirits.”
The graduates will be attending 56 different colleges and universities throughout the country and abroad, including Harvard, Notre Dame, George Washington, USC, UC Berkeley, UCLA, Scripps College and Loyola Marymount.
