Residents at Villa Gardens Retirement Community now can boast of a modernized fitness center with equipment that caters specifically to older people.
After six weeks of a major remodel, the Villa Gardens Solarium Fitness Center is back up and running. Residents and staff celebrated its grand reopening last week with a ribbon-cutting ceremony including participation by the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce.
Fitness committee members and fitness director Kim Williams were on hand to demonstrate the state-of-the-art exercise machines, including a brand-new CyberCycle, which already has a steady stream of enthusiasts. Research has shown that using the recumbent bike can help delay the onset of Alzheimers and dementia much better than traditional exercise.
The upgraded fitness center also includes the latest in strength training machines and other cardio options, such as the SciFit elliptical, recumbent stepper and treadmill.
