Flintridge Prep, Poly, Westridge Remain Niche Ranking Favorites

Three local private high schools have again tipped the grade scales among Los Angeles County’s best private schools, according to the neighborhood research website Niche.com, which uses parent and student reviews, public test scores and college data to compile its annual rankings.
According to Niche’s compilation of the “2020 Best Private High Schools” in the county, Flintridge Prep ranked No. 2, Polytechnic School No. 3 and Westridge No. 5, reclaiming the same spots they had in last year’s ratings.
“Our ranking is based on rigorous analysis of key statistics and millions of reviews from students and parents. Ranking factors include SAT/ACT scores, the quality of colleges that students consider, student-teacher ratio, private school ratings and more,” Niche states on its website, adding that data is from the U.S. Department of Education, Niche users and the schools themselves.
As part of the website’s overall grade for the schools, it uses data to judge academics, teachers, clubs and activities, diversity, college prep and sports.
Niche calculates the grades and rankings “to assess key aspects of K-12 schools, colleges and places to live. Every month, millions of students and families use the Niche grades and report cards to find the right school or neighborhood,” it stated.
In the website’s statewide rankings for 2020, Flintridge Prep came in at No. 5, Polytechnic No. 7, Marlborough No. 10 and Westridge School No. 14.
Among top Catholic schools in the county, Marymount High School ranked No. 1; Mayfield Senior School No. 2; Loyola High School No. 3; Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy No. 4 and Louisville High School No. 5.
For the 2020 ranking, Niche also named its top L.A.
