FSHA Defeats Mayfield Senior; Poly Wins League Crown

The Flintridge Sacred Heart varsity girls’ volleyball team snapped a three-match losing streak by sweeping host Mayfield Senior, 25-19, 26-24, 25-18, in a nonleague contest on Monday.
The two teams played in a Dig for the Cure match in an effort to raise money and awareness for cancer research. Parents and students packed the Mayfield gym.
Peyton Dejardin led FSHA with 14 kills, 15 digs and four aces, and Emma Willingham added 11 kills. Ferryn Drake recorded eight kills, Ellie Lund had 33 assists, two kills, two aces and three blocks, Abby Kim recorded seven digs, Caitlin Du finished with 12 digs, Katherine Collins had one kill and three blocks, Zoe Grace recorded blocks and Emmie Barnard contributed a kill.
The Tologs (19-10 overall record, 2-4 in league) will host Los Angeles Marlborough in a Mission League match today at 6 p.m.
The Cubs (11-17 overall, 5-4 in league) will look to bounce back at home against Flintridge Prep today at 5:30 p.m.

Polytechnic 3
Westridge 0

The Panthers secured the Prep League championship following a three-set victory over visiting Westridge, 25-22, 25-12, 25-17, on Monday.
Poly (16-1 overall) improved to 9-0 in league play and has a four-match lead over second-place Palos Verdes Chadwick with three league contests remaining this season. Second-year head coach Katrina Damasco captures the league title for a second consecutive season.
Krystal Raymundo led the Tigers with nine kills and nine digs and Grace Nelson added six kills. Julia Cruz recorded six digs, Abby Yuhan finished with 17 assists, Kathleen Chen had four kills, and Sarah Waite and Lily Nelson contributed one kill each.
The Panthers will host Burbank Providence in a league match this Friday, Oct. 11, at 3:45 p.m.
Westridge (8-9 overall, 5-4 in league) will host Chadwick in a league contest today at 4:30 p.m.

Burbank Providence 3
Flintridge Prep 0

The Rebels were swept by visiting Burbank Providence, 25-20, 25-20, 25-15, in a Prep League match last week.
Flintridge Prep (13-6 overall) fell to 4-5 in the league standings. The Rebels will have to win their final three matches for a chance of clinching a postseason berth.
Prep will travel to Mayfield Senior for a league contest today at 5:30 p.m. The Rebels close out the regular season at home against rival Polytechnic on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 5:30 p.m.

Cerritos Valley Christian 3
Maranatha 0

The Minutemen were defeated by visiting Cerritos Valley Christian, 25-10, 25-22, 25-10, in an Olympic League match last week.
Sophie Berry led Maranatha with five assists, three kills and one ace, and teammates Mireille Minassian and Krista Powell each recorded two kills. Bella Medina had 11 digs, Kamryn Asaoka finished with six digs, Phoebe Lim tallied three assists, Taliana Marganian and Zoe Sabado each recorded a kill, and Saleen Marganian contributed one block.
Maranatha (4-19 overall, 0-5 in league) will host Northridge Heritage Christian in a league match on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 6 p.m. The seniors will be honored prior to the contest.

La Salle 3
Long Beach St. Anthony 0

The Lancers extended their winning streak to 10 with a three-set victory over visiting Long Beach St. Anthony, 25-22, 25-9, 25-11, in a Del Rey League match last week.
La Salle (20-3 overall) improved to 3-1 in league and remains in contention for at least a share of the Del Rey League title. The squad is in second place behind Torrance Bishop Montgomery, which has a 5-0 record against league opponents.
The Lancers, ranked No. 2 in CIF Southern Section Division 3, will travel Torrance to take on the Knights today at 6:30 p.m.
