Families Forward Learning Center recently hosted its ninth annual Twilight Tasting raising more than $100,000 to support its mission to prepare families living in isolation and poverty to succeed in school and in life through two-generation learning programs. Congresswoman Judy Chu presented proclamations of recognition to Families Forward board President Sylvia H. Paz and Executive Director Elva Sandoval, as more than 200 guests enjoyed specialties from a dozen local restaurants and beverage purveyors. Live music was supplied by the Labrateers. Attendees also heard from program graduate Yesenia Gonzalez, who in a moving speech, told her personal story that took her young family from despair to success, thanks to Families Forward Learning Center.
