Pasadena City College Foundation Names New Board Members

The Pasadena City College Foundation has announced the appointment of seven new members to its board of directors. The new members join other Pasadena area leaders to support PCC students and the college by working to fulfill the mission of the foundation.
The foundation has elected Hoyt Hilsman, Cynthia Kurtz, Gloria de Olarte, Gilda Pettit, Justin Tsui, Robert Floe and Craig Washington. These new members come in under the presidency of Gloria Pitzer and they bring their invaluable expertise to the board.
Those continuing to serve on the foundation’s board of directors include: Geoffrey Baum, Scott Bell, Glenn Bowie, Sheldon Bull, Vivian Chan, Dana Dattola, Charmayne Mills Ealy, Erika Endrijonas, Ralph Frammolino, Carmella Grahn, Mark Harmsen, Bill Hawkins, William Krantz, Nancy Lan, Robert Miller, Michael Mitchell, Ryan Newman, Clara Potes-Fellow, Gloria Pitzer, Jim Sarni, R.C. Schrader, Don Schweitzer, Jack Scott, Chuck Stanislawski, Gregory Sun and Wade Winter.

Pasadena City College Announces ‘PCC Promise’

Starting this fall, high school graduates in the San Gabriel Valley will be able to attend Pasadena City College without paying tuition through a new program known as the PCC Promise.
The program is the latest in a growing number of similar programs at two-year colleges around the country designed to give every student access to a college education. As tuition in the CSU and UC systems has skyrocketed by as much as 400% over the past 20 years, vastly outpacing inflation, the PCC Promise intends to lower barriers to ensure that the benefits of college attendance remain available to students of all backgrounds.
“PCC has been a gateway to a better life for residents of our region for more than 90 years,” said PCC Superintendent-President Rajen Vurdien. “The PCC Promise makes sure that gateway remains open for all the students we serve — today and tomorrow.”
