La Cañada Presbyterian Church Parent Education will host its annual benefit gala, “Loving Mercy Restoring Lives,” on Saturday, Feb. 29, at Oakmont Country Club in Glendale. The event will help finance operations of Parent Ed, which will partner with local advocacy organization FosterAll to raise funds to secure homes for foster children in Los Angeles. L.A. The La Cañada Presbyterian Church Parent Education’s next night series will be Parent Express for Parents of Tweens — Surviving Middle School. The class will provide a monthlong opportunity for parents who cannot attend the daytime classes.
“As a mother of three teenagers, Paige Dunbar leads her classes with tried-and-true experiences,” said longtime Parent Education participant Jill Weinlein. “Her parenting techniques provide insight and tools for parents to use along their journey of nurturing their tweens and teens. In the holiday spirit of mixing business with pleasure, the La Cañada Presbyterian Church Parent Education board, ministry support team and staff met at the La Cañada Flintridge home of Ashley Barrett for a year-end Christmas party and joint board/staff meeting.
The evening was filled with good food, fellowship, reflection, planning and prayer in anticipation of the wonderful year ahead.
LCPC Parent Education will host an open house Tuesday through Friday, Jan. 23-26. Parents of children ages infant to 18 may attend a free trial class. In addition to the 14 classes currently running, two new offerings include New Babies and Spiritual Parenting classes. The New Babies class (for babies born 8/1/2017 through early January 2018) will begin the week of Wednesday Jan. 24 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and will be taught by experienced teacher and mother of seven Nanette Brown. Spiritual Parenting is a six-week evening class offered on Wednesday beginning Jan. 10 and will be facilitated by Paige Dunbar. The purpose of the class is to assist parents in understanding how to incorporate God into their parenting.
LCPC Parent Education’s upcoming fundraiser on Feb. 24 is called “Keep Calm and Bowl On.” It will celebrate Parent Ed’s 39-year legacy and raise money for ongoing programming.

Ron Pearson, renowned comedian, will entertain with laughs and maybe even a little juggling during La Cañada Presbyterian Church Parent Education board’s annual benefit at Vertigo in Glendale on Saturday, Feb. 25.
This year’s benefit theme, “Last Parent Standing, A Night of Laughs with Ron Pearson,” is one familiar to all parents whom undoubtedly deserve a night filled with laughter. The Rev. Chuck Osburn also will be joining as an emcee.
The 2016 Parent Ed Benefit will include dinner, complimentary drinks and an online silent and live auction. The auction items will include a beach house in Playa del Rey, a condo in Maui, concert tickets and an evening at the Magic Castle.
