Tommy Lasorda (right), who passed away last week at age 93, is pictured at 1988 spring training with newly acquired Kirk Gibson, who would provide the most iconic home run in Dodgers history seven months later. Lasorda’s career included two World Series championships, an Olympic gold medal victory, and more celebrity speaking engagements and free meals than could be counted.

My Master’s Class at Tommy Lasorda University began in spring training 2007 with one day’s notice and a late-night phone call that sounded like the opening of an action movie. Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts, General Manager Farhan Zaidi, President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman and former Dodger great Orel Hershiser were among the featured guests as the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission partnered with Dodgers Foundation to host the fourth annual Dodgers All-Access at Dodger Stadium.

The Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission, in partnership with the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, hosted the fourth annual Dodgers All-Access at Dodger Stadium on Monday. This officially sanctioned Dodger event afforded 400 guests the unique opportunity to go behind the scenes at the iconic franchise’s stadium.
The evening included a panel discussion with current and former Dodger players, coaches and executives. Guests had the opportunity to take batting practice in the Dodger batting cages, pitch in the Dodgers’ bullpen, tour the stadium, call play-by-play action on historic Dodger moments, take photos throughout the stadium with current and alumni legends, bid on Dodgers memorabilia in the silent auction and enjoy a dinner on the infield.
The program included two panel discussions. Dodger Manager Dave Roberts, Dodger President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman and General Manager Farhan Zaidi participated in the first panel discussion, “The Business Perspective.” To close the evening, former Dodgers first basemen Steve Garvey and Eric Karros joined current first baseman Cody Bellinger in an exclusive interview with emcees John Hartung (SportsNet LA anchor) and Orel Hershiser (former Cy Young winner and World Series MVP).
