Bulldogs Fall to Hemet

Despite a complete game effort from junior starting pitcher Daniel Neria, Burbank fell short in their CIF Southern Section Division 5 second-round playoff game at Hemet, losing 4-2 on Tuesday. 

The Bulldogs were unable to overcome a three-run home run allowed in the bottom of the first inning, which proved to be the difference in the game.

Polytechnic Erases Deficit to Win 2nd CIF Championship

The Polytechnic varsity girls’ water polo team is no stranger to adversity. The squad opened the season ranked last out of 33 teams in CIF-Southern Section Division 5 and clawed its way to the No. 1 seed in the postseason.
That resiliency was on full display in the CIF-SS Division 5 championship match Saturday with the Panthers overcoming an early three-goal deficit to defeat No. 3-seeded Xavier Prep of Palm Desert, 10-5, at Woollett Aquatics Center in Irvine on Saturday. Titans Reach Quarterfinals for First Time Since 1978

Well before the season began, San Marino High School varsity boys’ basketball coach Mihail Papadopulos knew he had strong group.
“We knew we had a close-knit group of boys and we knew we had a cluster of tough competitors,” Papadopulos said in an email. “It’s always interesting to see how a season can mature or destroy a team. For us this year, all the adversity and all the learning lessons just seemed to have strengthened our resolve.”
It also gave the Titans a grit that has been on full display in the CIF-Southern Section Division 4AA playoffs, and it propelled the squad to a 62-58 victory over visiting Barstow in a second-round game last Friday. Continue reading “Titans Reach Quarterfinals for First Time Since 1978”
