The Rev. Megan Katerjian has been named Door of Hope’s new executive director, it was announced last week. Door of Hope is a nonprofit, faith-based organization whose mission is to equip homeless families to rebuild their lives. It provides a compassionate pathway to long-term life change for families experiencing homelessness in the San Gabriel Valley area. Serving hundreds of families over the last 30 years, Door of Hope’s focus has remained on helping families transition from homelessness, to self-sufficiency and permanent housing.
“Megan’s experience working with churches, volunteers, individual donors, foundations, and government, together with her excellent communication skills, leadership abilities, passion for Door of Hope’s mission, and deep empathy for those we serve, make her an excellent fit to become our next executive director,” a Door of Hope spokesman said. “A person of deep faith and a passion to serve poor and vulnerable people, Megan’s background includes pastoral ministry and a significant history in nonprofit work.”
For the past seven years, Katerjian has worked in pastoral ministry with a focus on community outreach, most recently serving as outreach pastor at La Cañada Presbyterian Church. Prior to that, she spent six years working for nonprofits in Chicago that help poor and underserved families with a focus on fundraising, policy advocacy and program development. She also spent a year volunteering for two nonprofit organizations in South Africa.
