HMS Student Crowned U.S. National Amateur Dance Champion

Nathaniel Chen, a 13-year-old 8th-grader at Huntington Middle School, and his partner, Liza Shlimovich, a 9th-grader at Mirman School in Los Angeles, were once again crowned as Junior 2 American Smooth Champions at the U.S. National Amateur DanceSport Championships at the Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, recently.
After intensive and competitive rounds from quarter-finals, semi-finals and final, Chen and Shlimovich won first place in all four dances in the Junior 2 (age 14-15) age category and were crowned as the U.S. Junior 2 American Smooth Champions. The American Smooth style consists of four dances: waltz, tango, foxtrot and Viennese waltz.
