Advocates for the Alzheimer’s Association will speak to the USC Trojan Affiliates on March 1, sharing a personal story of two former Pasadena-area residents who have experienced the ravaging effects of the disease.
Ray Wells, 57, was diagnosed with Young Onset Alzheimer’s at the age of 55. As a parent of two, ages 21 and 17, he had been a Realtor in the Greater Pasadena community for nearly 30 years. Much of his career was spent mentoring and training new recruits as a manager for Dilbeck Realtors and later, Teles Properties. He served as the 1997 president of the Pasadena-Foothills Association of Realtors, as an officer for the California Association of Realtors and as the long-time Master of Ceremonies and leader of the weekly “pitch” meetings, and as the annual Master of Ceremonies for the awards banquet at the Langham Hotel. He and his wife, May, a fellow Realtor, formed a dynamic and successful real estate team.

Nancy DelSanto, founder of askDECOR, will address the women of USC Trojan Affiliates on Thursday, Feb. 1, at the home of San Marino resident Laura Burge. The meeting will begin with refreshments at 6:30 p.m., followed by the program at 7 p.m. Community members are encouraged to attend.
DelSanto, who will talk on “Design Your Second Half – Uncover Dreams and Reconnect With Joy,” specializes in helping clients navigating big changes — whether it is to a condo in town, that ocean view they always wanted or remodeling to create an environment that better supports their needs.
Trojan Affiliates supports USC and welcomes all interested women to attend its meetings and events. All women parents, alumni, and friends of USC are encouraged to attend.

Joyce and Cliff Penner, sex therapists, will address the USC Trojan Affiliates at their Year-End Celebration on Thursday, May 4, at Mijares Mexican Restaurant, 145 Palmetto Drive in Pasadena. The meeting will begin with a social at 6:30 p.m., followed by the dinner and program at 7 p.m.
Cliff and Joyce Penner met at Grace University in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1959 and married in 1963. Joyce earned her RN in St. Paul and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Washington. The women of USC Trojan Affiliates will welcome Dr. Nerses Sanossian to speak at the upcoming meeting on Thursday, March 2, about “Stroke Awareness for You and Your Family.”
The meeting will begin with refreshments at 6:30 p.m., followed by the program at 7 p.m., at the home of San Marino resident Valerie Gumbiner Weiss. Community members are encouraged to attend.
