The Flintridge Prep varsity girls’ volleyball team didn’t get off to the best start at San Marino High School on Monday.
The Rebels committed errors on serves and gave up the first game against the Titans in a nonleague match but battled back and came away with a four-set victory, 19-25, 25-21, 25-10, 25-14.
“I call it a Monday wake-up call,” said Prep head coach Sean Beattie. “San Marino is a good team, and we strolled in thinking we were a better team, maybe? We got smacked in the face and woke up. They served very well in the first game and we did not.”
Flintridge Prep (12-3 overall record, 4-3 in league) trailed in the third game, 5-2, and responded with a 17-2 run, the biggest of the match. The Rebels cruised to a nonleague victory following the run.
“We served better as the match went on and passed better,” Beattie said. “Once we pass better, we’re able to use our middles, and once we use them, it opens up the outside.” Continue reading “Rebels Down San Marino; La Salle Defeats FSHA in Tourney Final”
