Cancer Support Community Pasadena’s Angel Gala Is May 15

Join Cancer Support Community Pasadena (CSCP) on a trip “Around the World” on Saturday, May 15, at 7 p.m. for the organization’s virtual Angel Gala.
“This year’s gala will be even more engaging, fast-paced, delightful and surprising than last year’s first-ever virtual event,” said Kim Ferreira, CSCP’s director of events. “The community’s participation in our virtual Angel Gala will allow CSCP to continue to be ‘a community of support’ for our members so that no one faces cancer alone.”
Thanks to generous community support, the organization has continued to act as a beacon of hope during this pandemic, with participation in virtual support groups exceeding in-person participation in prior years. Since 1990, CSCP has provided hope to over 22,000 women, men and children facing cancer in the greater San Gabriel Valley.
Melissa Alcorn and Anderson & Murison are this year’s Angel Gala honorees. Anderson & Murison is a Pasadena-based wholesale insurance broker co-founded by Alcorn’s late father, whose battle with cancer led her through CSCP’s doors a decade ago. Melissa is senior vice president at Anderson & Murison and a member of CSCP’s Board of Directors and its volunteer guild.
The event’s co-chairs – Rita Gooch, Ruben Marquez and Stephanie Poole – hope to engage new participants in this year’s event through a globe-trotting fundraising campaign leading up to the May 15 livestream. Visit cscpasadena.ejoinme.org/AG21Competition to plan a virtual trip, create a team and compete against others in the community to support CSCP.
In addition to the competition, other ways to join in the fun this year include:
• Purchase raffle tickets to win one of two prizes: a $500 gift card to Mimi et Cie Fine Jewelers or a Disneyland getaway ($1,800 value), which includes four park hopper tickets and a suite at Cambria Hotel in Anaheim (sleeps six people)
• Participate in the silent auction from Wednesday, May12 through Sunday, May 16
• Join CSCP on May 15 from 7-8 p.m. for the livestream event full of live auction items, awards, raffle, and entertainment
