Connolly to Be Honored at Spiritus Dinner

Monsignor Clem Connolly

Monsignor Clem Connolly will be honored by Social Service Auxiliary of the Sisters of Social Service at a special dinner on Saturday evening, April 1.
Connolly, who served as a priest at Holy Family Church in South Pasadena for three decades, will receive the organization’s prestigious Spiritus Award.
“Monsignor Clem has dedicated his life to help the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in many ways,” said Social Service Auxiliary President Rlene Mijares de Lang. “He has spoken to many groups instilling the word of God, forgiveness, acceptance and love. When Monsignor Clem speaks, his words are listened to.”
Connolly graduated from St. Patrick College in Thurles, Ireland, and was ordained to the priesthood in 1964 and missioned to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. After two parish assignments, Connolly was appointed secretary to Cardinal James Francis McIntyre in 1968. When McIntyre retired, Connolly continued to serve as secretary to his successor, Archbishop Cardinal Timothy Manning, until Manning’s retirement.
Connolly is director of spirituality at Holy Family and is also a trustee at Mayfield Junior School and is on the board of directors for Muse/ique in Pasadena. He has previously served on the Mayfield Senior School board of trustees and has been a regent of the San Marino YMCA board of managers.
