‘Deserts’ Documentary at Caltech This Saturday

“Planet Earth — Deserts” will be presented on Saturday, Dec. 16, at 4 p.m. in Caltech’s Beckman Auditorium. This program is part of Caltech’s Science Saturdays series.
Though many believe that all deserts are similar expanses of dry land, a lack of rainwater is perhaps the only thing that unifies these diverse habitats. With aerial and time-lapse footage, this film shows how animals have learned to survive without the most precious resource of all. The documentary is a BBC/Discovery Channel/NHK co-production in association with the CBC and is recommended for all ages.
Annelise Thompson, a Caltech chemistry and chemical engineering graduate student, will introduce the film and guide the post-screening discussion.
Tickets to this performance are $10 (general admission). Tickets can be purchased at the Caltech Ticket Office, 1200 E. California Blvd., Pasadena, and at the Beckman Auditorium box office beginning one hour before the event.
Beckman Auditorium is located at 332 S. Michigan Ave. For information, call the Caltech Ticket Office at (626) 395-4652.
