Flintridge Center has announced the election of two new members to its board of directors, the retirement of longtime Flintridge Board member Armando
Gonzalez and the full slate of officers and board members for 2017-18.
Joining the board of directors are Gloria Sanchez-Rico and Natasha Zaharov.
“The challenges facing disenfranchised community members require service providers with strategic, visionary and compassionate leadership, and Gloria and Natasha will bring those qualities to Flintridge Center’s board,” said Jaylene Moseley, Flintridge Center’s president. “We are very fortunate to have them by our side as we continue to work with community members in high-need, high-risk circumstances.”
Sanchez-Rico is vice president, chief nurse executive of Huntington Hospital. She joined the hospital in 1999 and has held a variety of senior management positions until her appointment as vice president in 2014. She received a bachelor’s degree in health science and nursing from Cal State Los Angeles and an MBA from University of Phoenix.
“Flintridge Center provides a tremendous benefit to our community,” Sanchez-Rico said. “In joining the board, I hope to provide insight to further the center’s mission to assist high-need individuals and families throughout Los Angeles County.”
Zaharov is a partner with Hahn & Hahn LLP, a leading Pasadena law firm. Her professional expertise is in business, commercial and real estate law. She also serves as an Ambassador for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where she founded the Emerging Leaders Council in 2016. Zaharov received her bachelor’s degree in Slavic languages and literature; communications from UC Santa Barbara; and a law degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.
“The center’s mission is one of hope,” Zaharov said. “In providing focused programs, education, resources and guidance to individuals in high-risk situations, Flintridge Center gives members of our community access to opportunities for positive change, which impacts us all. I am excited to advocate for our programs and join in the impact Flintridge Center makes in the lives of individuals and our Southern California community.”
Gonzalez served on the board of directors from the center’s founding in 2008. Through his wise counsel and leadership, both as chair and as a member of the board, he significantly helped the center steer through difficult challenges and position itself for the future. At its 2017-18 Annual Organizational Meeting, the board selected Gonzalez as Life Associate. He has served on many other nonprofit boards, including serving as Lifetime Trustee of Huntington Hospital.
Flintridge Center is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to break the cycle of poverty and violence through community planning, innovation and action.
