Free Pasadena Community Orchestra Concert June 10

Pasadena Community Orchestra’s summer Concert in the Park will be held on Saturday evening, June 10, at Sierra Madre Memorial Park (222 W. Sierra Madre Blvd.).
The concert, which begins at 6:30, “presents a rare opportunity for the whole family to enjoy accessible orchestral music for free and with free parking,” according to an event spokesperson. “Picnics on the lawn, kids playing or taking a close-up look at the musicians on stage, and even a kid-centric ‘children’s march’ around the park keep it relaxing for everyone. It all makes for a perfect start to a SoCal summer.”
Bethany Pfleuger leads these accomplished amateur musicians in a program of marches, light classics, film scores and Americana. New this year, the Los Angeles Guild of Puppetry adds a presentation featuring giant fabric banners and flags to illustrate the rollicking, dramatic tale of Von Suppé’s “Light Cavalry Overture.”
Concerts are made possible in part by the Pasadena Arts & Culture Commission and the city of Pasadena Cultural Affairs Division, L.A. County Arts Commission, Pasadena Community Foundation, and Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts.
