Huntington Middle School recently hosted its fourth annual HMS Science Fair, sponsored by the HMS PTA and chaired by Dr. Alexis Anvekar. Each project received about 25 minutes of thorough judging by Dr. Madhu Anvekar and Dr. Shaz Arya. Best in Show was awarded to Stanley Wong for his project “Temperature vs. Chemical Reaction Rates.” Madison Spitzer was a close second with her project, “Memory and Mnemonics.” Brandon Hang and his “Seltzer Showdown” project was right on her heels capturing third place. The top 15 scoring projects will represent HMS at the Los Angeles County Science Fair in March. Only six points separated the first from the 15th project in this competitive event. The students who have qualified to advance are Stanley Wong (first place, 7th grade), Madison Spitzer (second place, 7th grade), Brandon Hang (third place, 7th grade) and Christian Christodoulou (first place, 6th grade).
