Pasadena residents Mike and Mandy DiMarcangelo, who have donated hundreds of hours helping Pasadena Unified School District students during the past several years, received the Lake Avenue Community Foundation’s Volunteer of the Year Award, it was announced this past week.
“Mike and Mandy have gone above and beyond as volunteers in the STARS After-School Program and group mentoring,” said Beth Winton, LACF’s volunteer program manager.
“In a posture of humility and learning, they have committed countless hours and an abundance of love to a group of four young men for the last five years. After bonding with this group of boys in Middle School STARS over three years, Mike and Mandy and the four boys decided to go deeper and start group mentoring together. Not only have the young men benefitted from the experience, but the DiMarcangelos have been blessed as their mentoring group has developed into a tight-knit group that will likely last a lifetime. LACF is so grateful for the DiMarcangelos and their passion to make a difference in the community and support the youth of Pasadena.”
