Carver Elementary School’s Walking Club has once again commenced its weekly walking day for students. Several years ago, Carver took the notion of a “Walk to School Day” (which used to happen just once a year) and turned it into a healthy, environmentally friendly and weekly fun event. Now, each Friday, participating students meet at one of four “Walking School Bus” routes to walk to school with classmates with the supervision of parent volunteers. The program hopes to continue to encourage students to be physically active as well as reduce traffic around the Carver campus. Students can look forward to T-shirts and participation prizes, including the coveted “Golden Shoe” award, as part of their membership.
